· Four weekly reading logs to record the amount of time your child(ren) reads.You must record Clock time and reading period as well as the books your child(ren) reads!
· CLASS TIME READING DOES NOT COUNT!
Reading logs must be turned in every Tuesday to their classroom teachers or they will not be given credit!
PRIZES
Weekly group reward will be given to all classes who meet their classroom reading and personal reading goals. Each classroom teacher will determine if their goals have been met using the reading logs received on Tuesday. The weekly rewards will include:
· Week 1 Candy or Bubble Gum Day
· Week 2 Game Day
· Week 3 Movie Day in your PJ’s
· Week 4 Awards Ceremony & Ice Cream Party
Awards Ceremony:
· Prizes will be given for first and second place winners of each classroom.
· Grand prizes will be awarded to the top reader in each grade. Grand prize winners will receive a special lunch with Mr. Covey.
· Prize drawings- Each student can enter their name into a drawing each time that they meet their individual weekly reading goals. One prize will be awarded per grade.
Reading Guidelines
Reading periods should be logged in 15-minute increments. Time spent listening to someone else read and reading independently is counted. Remember classroom reading does not count!
Parents should sign the reading log and/or help their child log their clock time and books read on their log sheet to insure accuracy. The weekly reading log runs from Tuesday through the following Monday and should be brought to the teacher

Monday, February 1st 8:45a.m. Kick-Off Assembly with author in residence Gary Harbo
Tuesday February 2nd Students begin logging reading time on this date.
Monday March 1st Last day for students to log reading time for the Read-a-Thon
Tuesday March 2nd Final day for reading logs to be turned in to teachers.
Friday March 5th Awards ceremony and Ice Cream Party at 2:30
