New Testament Survey (10)
This course is designed to present an overview of the New Testament Scriptures.A brief account is given of the four hundred "silent years" between the Old and New Testament. The gospel accounts are presented to clearly lift up Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord for all the nations. Students will also be challenged to apply truth from the epistles that present answers to the great issues of our time.
This course is designed to give students the "big picture" of the Old Testament. They will be able to "walk thru" the basic flow of the Old Testament scriptures. Major readings are initially taken from ten Old Testament books that provide a historical perspective from creation to the close of the Old Testament. Reading is taken from the remaining twenty-nine books which fill in the details of God's redemptive history. Special attention is given to understanding the biblical covenants in the life of a people chosen for His Name. Students are equipped for a lifetime of personal Bible study.
Through a study of the second half of the Old Testament, students discover the themes of covenant, obedience, judgment, mercy, hope and redemption. The sins of Israel and Judah that led to their punishment challenge students to examine their own lives in light of God's expectations. In addition, students focus on key Christian virtues and their importance and application in their lives. Students learn about the lives of the kings and the messages of the prophets that point us to God's eternal plan of salvation in Jesus Christ. Special projects encourage students to live out God's plan for each of them.
Jesus is the Light of the world! Through a study of Christ's life and ministry, students will learn to better receive and reflect that Light. Christian School's International's, A Light to the Gentiles, is the class textbook. The Holy Scriptures are used daily to reveal God's truth. Students are challenged to live by the fruit of the Holy Spirit and to walk daily with Jesus. The course also takes a close look from a Biblical worldview of social and national issues that are affecting today's youth.
