"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;"  Philippians 2:3

Service is an important part of living in Christian community. SFC strives to develop this character trait in students through opportunites to serve in our local community. Here are a few organizations that SFC works with on a regular basis.

The Banquet

The Banquet is a volunteer-based ministry, which means their meals are paid for, prepared by, and served by volunteer groups who come from Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. Student groups and entire classes from SFC serve this organization on a regular basis. Student have an opportunity to help prepare the meal, set up the eating area, and interact with the people that are served.

Inn At Westport

The Inn At Westport is a senior living and health care community in Sioux Falls. SFC has developed a relationship with this organization through regular field trips. Various classes have had opportunities to visit with the seniors and share stories, read books, lead exercise classes, and share their faith story.

See the video below for an example of how one teacher integrated this into her science lesson.

Kids Against Hunger

Some of the best volunteer experiences come when children, parents, and grandparents work together as a family. Packaging food - it is a wonderful, fulfilling way to feel that you are making a real difference! SFC students have had the opportunity to raise funds and help pack meals for children around the world.

Handbells

Our 5th through 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in handbells. This group performs in the community at churches and other organizations.
