This class gives students the opportunity to learn some fundamental Spanish vocabulary and grammar, as well as get acquainted with some strategies for learning a new language. Brief and frequent assignments reinforce and assess each lesson. Projects, listening, and written test are used for evaluation. A Christian attitude and perspective is part of the teaching/learning process.
This course will review and build on the foundation begun in Spanish 7, using similar activities to help the student grow in the use of the Spanish language.
This course has a goal for students to grasp the foundations of the Spanish language through basic grammar, everyday expressions, phrases and simple conversation skills in such areas as shopping, food, travel, pastimes, and school. Emphasis is on communication and cultural awareness. A variety of materials are used to maintain interest and enthusiasm such as music, videos, and games. Christian values and perspective are integrated throughout the learning process.
This course continues the procedure of the first year course in listening, comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, and culture. Magazines, readings, videos and music in the target language supplement the program. Cultural awareness is taught as part of the learning process. Total Physical Response (TPR) and Storytelling are also used to increase vocabulary speaking skills. A Christian perspective is integrated into the curriculum.
Reading, writing and speaking are the main focus of this course. Culture is again integrated through study and reading. 1st semester is grammar focused, while 2nd semester is more conversational, and implements student-led discussions conducted in Spanish, as well as watching an entire mini-series on video that is entirely in Spanish. Christian perspective and issues are brought in through culture and conversation.
