The class provides an orientation to life on the senior high school level. The class initially focuses on personal/social development including Christian character, then academic success, and finally college/career information and guidance. Required in the 9th grade.
Student mentoring is a great opportunity for 12th grade students to share their talents, grow as individuals, and enrich the lives of others. The student-mentoring program is designed to provide opportunities for positive student-to-student interaction. High school students who participate in this program are expected to be positive role models. Mentors are to work with a student one-to-one providing academic assistance for 4th-12th grade students. At times mentors will provide a support role for the teacher. In order to receive a credit for this program, mentors will keep a daily calendar as well as a monthly journal of their mentoring activities. Student mentors are also expected to attend a monthly meeting with the supervisor. Each student mentor will receive an evaluation from his/her teacher at the end of each quarter.
