Community Outreach
Going Into All the World
Service is an important part of living in a Christian community. We work hand-in-hand with many community organizations on a regular basis to give our students the chance to build character through outreach opportunities that meet a real need for real people.
Kids Against Hunger
Some of the best volunteer experiences come when children, parents, and grandparents work together as a family. Packaging food - it is a wonderful, fulfilling way to feel that you are making a real difference! SFC students have had the opportunity to raise funds and help pack meals for children around the world.
Inn At Westport
The Inn At Westport is a senior living and health care community in Sioux Falls. SFC has developed a relationship with this organization through regular field trips. Various classes have had opportunities to visit with the seniors and share stories, read books, lead exercise classes, and share their faith story. Click here to watch a video and learn how one teacher integrated this into her science lesson.
The Banquet
The Banquet is a volunteer-based ministry, which means their meals are paid for, prepared by, and served by volunteer groups who come from Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. Student groups and entire classes from SFC serve this organization on a regular basis. Students have an opportunity to help prepare the meal, set up the eating area, and interact with the people that are served.
Handbells
Our 5th through 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in hand bells. This group performs in the community at churches and other organizations. Click here to watch a video and learn more about this program.
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is a program for girls in grades 3-5. The program has lessons that teach self-confidence, friendship, and community involvement. Click here to watch the video and learn more about what the program has been doing at SFC.
