General Health Information

If your child has special health care needs, requires medication and/or treatment during the school day, or has a chronic health care condition (such as anaphylactic allergy, asthma, diabetes, seizure, etc.) please contact the school nurse who will give you the necessary forms to be completed by you and your primary care physician. This will allow us to provide a safe and stable environment for your child while they are at school.

Illness

Student attendance is important. We want students in school as much as possible. However, if your child is ill, please keep him/her home so other students and staff are not exposed. When a child becomes ill while at school, a determination will be made about whether the child needs to be sent home or if he/she may stay at school.

All communicable diseases (i.e. chicken pox, strep throat, head lice, Fifth’s disease, whooping cough, covid, influenza) must be reported to school. Please consult the illness standards here for specific instructions on dealing with these illnesses and when your child may return to school.

A notice of symptoms and recommendations will be sent to all students in elementary school when appropriate. School nurses and administrators will use their best discretion to determine what is safe for our students.

Please consult the linked documents below for illnesses and medical situations that will require your child(ren) to be kept out of school.
