We Encourage Excellence

Music is a part of God's good creation and is a gift our students can enjoy with others. Our students work in harmony to create harmony -- and sometimes dissonance -- and both give this aspect of creation meaning and beauty.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Psalm 100:1-2

Chamber Choir is an elite auditioned ensemble of 20 or less singers.  The group performs various styles of music, emphasizing selections from the classical, sacred, and madrigal repertoire.  Any students who can demonstrate outstanding choral aptitude, tone, technique, and sight-reading should audition, but preference will be given to Juniors and Seniors.  Chamber Choir is extra-curricular and rehearses outside of the school day.  The group performs throughout the year as a part of SFC's regular vocal concert schedule, as well as on their own at churches, civic organizations and speciality functions.  They compete in the Region 2 Solo & Ensemble contest yearly and consistently receive superior ratings for their performances.

The advanced voice students may audition for a place in the South Dakota All-State Chorus.  Following the audition process, the auditions are judged and the top singers in our school are selected to the All-State Chorus. Sioux Falls Christian is allowed to bring 2 quartets to this festival each year. Being selected and performing as a member of the All-State Chorus is an outstanding musical experience and a very prestigious honor. Music, entry fees, and travel are provided by SFC. Additional information about this activity can be accessed through the South Dakota High School Activities Association (www.sdhsaa.com).

Choir students are given opportunity each Spring to participate either as solo or ensembles for the Region 2 Solo/Ensemble Contest held at Augustana College in Sioux Falls.
